Family Mapping comes from the Bowen Family Systems Theory.

 

Murray Bowen was an American psychiatrist who was among the pioneers of family therapy and a noted founder of systemic therapy. Beginning in the 1950s he developed a systems theory of the family. He sought to understand how inherited family trauma shapes who we are and how we can put an end to the cycle.
